H&M is making headlines this week for featuring a Muslim model wearing a hijab in an ad campaign for the first time.
23 year old Mariah Idrissi is part of an ad campagin that also stars a curvy model, an amputee model, a transgender model, and group of Sikh men in the fashion retailer's "Close the Loop" campaign, but it seems like her ad is getting the most attention. She says:
Mariah also praises H&M for the respect and understanding they paid her during the shoot:
She started wearing a hijab when she was 17, asked her parents' consent to feature in the ad and was able to work mostly with female staff on the shoot.
